Marit has developed an integrative approach that builds on clients’ strengths and unique life stories, and which is informed by psychodynamic , developmental, and attachment theories and integrates mindfulness and mind-body awareness. She is also a certified YogaCalm instructor. Marit has been providing respectful, collaborative services to children and families since 1996
Her areas of clinical focus include families of young children (ages 0-12) struggling with issues related to emotional and behavioral regulation, sensory integration, anxiety, ADHD, trauma, attachment, and other developmental concerns. She also specializes in adoption, parental stress, women’s issues, and individual work with adults of all ages who are confronting emotional struggles and life transitions.
She is a past director of early intervention services at St. David’s Center, and has consulted with Southside Family Nurturing Center and the Children’s Theatre Company Early Bridges Program.
Marit is a member of the Minnesota Association for Play Therapy (MNAPT). She is also an instructor in the University of Minnesota’s Center for Early Education and Development (CEED), is certified as a supervisor by the Minnesota Board of Social Work, and is an adjunct faculty member the Augsburg College Master of Social Work graduate program. Marit is a graduate of Earlham College and Smith College School for Social Work.
